Stanley Jones

Mr. Stanley E. Jones, Age: 66, resident of Port Orchard, Washington died on November 2,2001 at Harrison Hospital in Bremerton, Washington, due to complications from cancer.He had been born on March 19, 1935 in Los Angeles, California to Elmer and Alice(Benton) Jones. He later attended Rosemead High School, in Rosemead, California, graduating in 1952. He attended California Poly Tech in San Luis Obispo, graduating in 1956.Mr. Jones served in the United States Marine Corps from 1957 until 1978, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. He received the Presidential Unit Citation, and the Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Commendation.On July 18, 1959 Stanley Jones married Mary Ogletree in Coronado, California. Following his retirement from the Marine Corps he became a Stockbroker with Sherson Lehman for ten years, and then a Farmer for twenty years.He was a board member of the Conservation District of Kitsap County, Washington, and received in 1995 the award of ''Wildlife Farm of the Year''.Mr. Jones is survived by his wife, Mary, of the family home; His mother, Alice(Benton)Jones of Port Orchard; a son, Clay Jones of Port Orchard; a daughter, Jennifer Jones-Allen of Indianola, Washington; a brother, Vernon L. Jones of Yorba Linda, California; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Jones.The family is planning a memorial service in Stanley's honor, but the date has not yet been selected. The family has asked that any memorial donations be sent to Great Peninsula Conservancy, Post Office Box 5060, Bremerton, WA., 98312.All arrangement are under direction of Rill Chapel, Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home and Crematory.
