Stanley Moen

September 29, 1926 — March 17, 2005

Stanley L. "Bompa" Moen of Port Orchard, Washington died of a heart attack on March 17, 2005 in Port Orchard. He was 78. He was born September 29, 1926 in Lignite, North Dakota to John A. and Thea (Solseth) Moen. Stanley married Ardell Gifford in Port Orchard, Washington November 17, 1956. He attended high school in Port Orchard. He served as a Merchant Marine from 1948 - 1950 and in the U.S. Army from 1950 - 1952 in Korea - attaining rank of sergeant. Stanley worked for the Kitsap County Road District (South) for 27 years - retiring in 1984. He was Road Foreman. He was a member of Port Orchard Eagles (Golden Eagle), Port Orchard V.F.W. (Life Member) and Port Orchard American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, camping. He loved his family and family get-to-gethers. Stanley is survived by daughters - Marilyn Jerue (Dr. Larry) of Hood Canal, Carylyn Sarne of Poway, California; sister - Eunice Larson of Port Orchard; 11 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers - Thoralf, Irvin, Arnold, Donald, Norman Moen and by sisters - Louella Ives, Mildred Alderman and Lorraine Gyertz. A graveside service will be held at Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2005. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Port Orchard Eagles (Salmonbary and Jackson) immediately following the Graveside Service.
