The Tellvik Norsemen, women and children lost their senior Viking Warrior in his 90th year. Stan is the last together with Adeline his wife of 62 years. Born in Tacoma, WA in 1920, his family lived on Vashon Island and Tacoma. He married Adeline Axness and served with the 232nd Infantry Rainbow Division-Co. B; remaining an active member. They marched behind Patton's Tank Battalion thru Europe, fighting 3 major battles in extreme weather, liberating Jewish prisoners at death camps. A compassionate man who aided others during wartime, he came home to live in Port Orchard and raised 5 children. He operated Kitsap Farmers Feed and Grain Store, participated in "Days of 49", learned to fly a plane, drove a "Uke" truck to build a dam, a dry dock for the Navy, hauled paving material to build roads and retired from Kitsap County Highway Department. A woodworker, gardener, boater and sports enthusiast, he traveled with his wife and made trips to North Dakota and Norway to visit family. He loved games & music and sang & played the guitar. Surviving are brother Joe; sister-in-law Ila; daughter Kaye; sons John, Stanley, Gene & Daniel; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 first cousins; 3 nephews and a niece. Memorial Service at 1:00pm on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Rill's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard. Remembrances may be sent to the World War II Museum.
