Stephen Clyde Sheats

Stephen C. Sheats, 73, lost his battle with cancer and passed away peacefully in Port Orchard on August 5, 2014. He was born March 21, 1941 in Iowa City, Iowa to Stephen & Inez (Miller) Sheats.
Stephen retired from the United States Navy after a service of 20 years in which he served on the USS Paul Revere, USS Peoria and USS Blue Ridge. After he retired from the service, Stephen went on to become a registered nurse. He worked at Harrison Hospital in the oncology department until his retirement in May 2006.
Stephen is survived by his wife of 51 years, Teresa B. Sheats and his children Stephanie (Thomas) Marsolek, Maria (Jon) Lugar, and Taryn (Dwight) Sanders; grandchildren Stephen Lugar, Jema Marsolek, Danny Marsolek, Evan Marsolek and Jaelyn Lugar; sister Catherine Fort of Denver, Colorado; nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Port Orchard at 9:00 am on Saturday, August 9, 2014 with visitation a half hour before the service. Burial will follow at Sunset Lane Memorial Park, also in Port Orchard. Stephen will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
