Stephen Vanvalkenburg

Stephen H. VanValkenburg, 78 of Port Orchard, died in Bremerton on December 1, 2008.  He was born November 6, 1930 in Long Prairie, MN to Leon & Amanda (Manthorne) VanValkenburg.  He graduated from Long Prairie High School in 1949 and married Janice G. Vervalen on April 2, 1963 in South Dakota.  Stephen worked in Miami, FL and Port Orchard in refrigeration and air conditioning for 40 years.  He also served in the U. S. Navy for 6 years as a Machinist Mate.  Surviving are his wife Janice; sons Ronald & Frank VanValkenburg; daughters Tami (William) Meyers and Lisa (Scott) Parr; brothers Russell (Doris), Byron (Dolcie), and David (Lorraine); grandchildren Corena, Cari, Christopher, Joshua, Jakob & Shawn; great-grandchildren Darren, Robbin, Cailey & Wyatt.  He was preceded in death by son Stephen H. VanValkenburg, Jr. and granddaughter Stacy. Visitation will be Thursday, December 4th noon to 5:00pm and Friday, December 5th from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm with Celebration of Life at 11:00am on Saturday, December 6, 2008 at Rill's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard.  Inurnment will follow at Sunset Lane Memorial Park, also in Port Orchard.
