Steven Ray Allaway

Steven Ray Allaway was born on June 12, 1955, in Bremerton Washington, to John and Lillian Allaway. He was the oldest of 6 children. He was raised in Puyallup, Wa, and met the love of his life, Pamela Jean Wescott, at the early age of 16. From that moment forward he knew they would spend their lives together.

He joined the Army at 17, and Pamela anxiously awaited his return. They got engaged on a trip he made home, between duty stations from South Korea to Junction City, Kansas, and married on 11/20/1975. He got out of the Army in 1976, and they began their family soon after with the birth of their first child, daughter Leslie on 01/13/1977.

Steven followed in his father's footsteps in craftsmanship and construction for a few years, then started work at the Bremerton Puget Sound Naval Base in 1982. They relocated to Bremerton, from Puyallup, for a short while, then moved to Port Orchard where he would call home for the rest of his life. They welcomed their second child, son Jesse on 03/03/83, and his family was complete.

Steven designed and built the home of his dreams, finishing it in 1991, where he and his family would live for the next 32 years. Steven retired from the shipyard in 2015.

Steven enjoyed golfing, fishing, building, but most of all - precious time with his grandkids. Kids and animals were drawn to him because of his silly nature and child-like passion for life. His pride and joy were his grandkids.

Steven is survived by his wife, Pam, his daughter, Leslie (Tina), son, Jesse (Tanya), his mother, Lillian, 2 brothers and 2 sisters, and 5 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father, John, and his brother ,Randy.

Funeral services will be held at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard, Washington on Tuesday, 06/13/2023 at 1200pm. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project - https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org
