Steven Sommers

Steven Ray Sommers, 51, died at his home in Port Orchard, Washington on March 31, 2000.  He was born on June 25, 1948 in Yakima, Washington to L.W. & Dana Lee (Marler) Sommers.  Steven was raised in South Kitsap, graduating from South Kitsap High School in 1966.  He married Maria Travis on July 17, 1971 in Yakima.Mr. Sommers worked for 29 years at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard where he retired in 1995 as a Nuclear Engineering Technician.  He served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1968.Surviving are his wife; son Sean Sommers of Port Orchard; daughter Wendy Brooks of Port Orchard; brother Stacey Sommers of Port Orchard; sister Chris Blankenship of Bremerton; grandson Clayton Brooks of Port Orchard; and special friend & companion Sandra Peterson.Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 7, 2000 at 2:00pm at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard.  Visitation will be Thursday, April 6th from 9am to 5pm and Friday, April 7th from 9am to service.  Memorial donations may be made to Salvation Army, P.
