The Story of Tage Berthelsen’s Life
Born: April 30,1946 Jetsmark, Denmark
Died: May 10,2020 Bremerton, WA
Parents: Edvard Berthelsen and Marie (Jensen) Berthelsen
Tage was raised and attended school in northern Denmark (Jutland) where his parents taught. As a young man he apprenticed as a stone and brick mason plus tile setter in Denmark. He worked at this craft in Denmark, Greenland, Canada and the USA for over 50 years.
For the past twenty years he ran a small business focused on commercial tile installation in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Alaska, California and Hawaii. He shared his experience and attention to detail with the employees that worked for him.
He loved his family in Denmark as well as his adopted family in the US. He enjoyed visits home and from his relatives as well as communicating via telephone with them often. He was well versed on the qualities or defects of many car brands and loved discussing cars with our local mechanic. I don’t think many people would be as welcome in the garage as him when his vehicle was being attended to.
He was preceded in death by his parents Edvard and Marie, sister Hanne and her husband Morten Odder, step-daughter Cheryl Rossini and step-son Christopher Mucci.
He is survived by his wife Eileen, son Soren Berthelsen-Holm(Kamilla) granddaughters Alma & Viola, sister Ida (Knud) Ostergaard Nielsen, many beloved nieces and nephews in Denmark & Switzerland, step-daughters Nora Phillips (Jesse) & Suzanne McEntire (Michael) and grandchildren Glenn Phillips, Brooks, Ethan & Grace McEntire, Angela & Christina Rossini, Margaret (Maggie) Mucci in the US.
Burial and service will be held in Denmark at a future date.
