Tami Lynn Roddick

November 26, 1961 — August 12, 2022

Tami Lynn Roddick, age 60, of Port Orchard, WA, formerly of Pickerington, OH, passed away suddenly on the evening of August 12, 2022. Tami was born on November 26, 1961 in Myrtle Beach, SC. She attended Groveport Madison H.S., Groveport, OH and graduated from Eastland Career Center, Groveport. Tami earned a Bachelor’s in Business Administration at Franklin University while working full-time pursuing her career in commercial lines insurance; she served as a Claims Service Specialist at State Auto Insurance, Columbus, OH; her passion was in commercial insurance underwriting. In 2003 Tami relocated with her husband to Washington State where she continued work in commercial and personal lines insurance until her retirement in 2011. Tami also worked as a visiting caregiver for the elderly including patients with dementia and Alzheimer’s; with her unequaled selfless devotion to help or care for others Tami loved that job. While still in the Columbus area she was a volunteer tutor for middle school-age children in low-income families.

Tami loved her family and friends unconditionally, and was happiest when she could be around them. She loved meeting new people and would instinctively strive to befriend a person who would allow her; she was welcomely. It brought her joy to interact, talk, and connect with young people, and babies were a magnet to her; she was quick to lend a gentle loving hand with their care. Enchanted by the World around her, Tami loved nature and the wonders it brought to her senses. Whether butterflies, birds, reptiles, land or ocean mammals, even fish, Tami yearned to care for or be around them and at home she loved her two kitties like they were her own children. Her greatest love however was for horses, she could not be near them without wanting to interact. She enjoyed having and caring for plants. She could make just about anything grow and if she could get away with it always looked to snip a cutting to take home and start a new plant’s independent life. Tami loved her Christmas Cactuses and Shamrocks.

She enjoyed cooking and creating new dishes and desserts. Tami collected angels and lighthouses; perfectly fitting as they represent guidance and protection which she exemplified as a way of her life. She loved art, and was particularly talented at chalk and pencil drawing. Tami also liked beading and doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles. She loved to sing and sang like a bird. Tami developed a love for classic American muscle cars and was a 19-year member of the All Around Mopars car club of Kitsap County, WA. The club became a second family she truly loved belonging to. Tami was a member of Elim Lutheran Church ELCA in Port Orchard, WA, and a former member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Columbus, OH. She was also a member of Toastmasters International.

Tami was preceded in death by her son Brian P. (BJ) Carter Jr and father Paul D. Davis.
She is survived by her husband William C. Roddick III, Port Orchard, WA; son William (Whitney Crane) Roddick, Granville, OH; mother Angie Roberts, Richmond Hill, GA; sisters, Ronni-Davis (Bill) Krouse, Newark, OH; Debi-Davis Wilson, Reynoldsburg, OH, Lori Bennett, Pataskala, OH, Jackie Miller, Groveport, OH Karole (David) Tucker, Canal Winchester, OH; Kimberley (Bob) Rumion, Port Orchard, WA; two granddaughters, Addison Carter and ShyAnne Johnson; grandson Nolan Crane Roddick; her aunts, Evelyn Reynolds, Eva Ketzenbarger, Ruth Howard; many cousins, nieces, nephews; mother-in-law Doris Roddick, Concord, CA; sister-in-law Nancy (Richard) Morrison, Modesto, CA; and the countless people who were touched by the selfless Angel on Earth that was Tami.
A celebration of Tami Roddick’s life will be held on a future date at a location to be determined. Tami was a supporter of the Wounded Warrior Project so she would have loved donations being made in her memory to the organization at https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org , with notice sent to the family.
