Terry Lee Allen

Terry L. "Rhico" Allen, 80, died at his home in Port Orchard on March 30, 2010.  He was born April 13, 1929 in Prosser, WA to Cyle & Eilene (Vincent) Allen.  He graduated from Kennewick High School in Kennewick WA in 1946 and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Adult Education from Southern Illinois University in 1984 & a Master of Science Degree in Organization Development from Central Washington University in 1989.  He married Connie I. Baxter on July 30, 1993 in Tacoma, WA. Rhico retired from Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in 1992 after 23 years in the Machinist trade in various positions including Planner & Estimator, Instructor, Supervisor, Facilitator, Coordinator, and Internal Consultant.  He also retired from Olympic College in 2009 after 33 years as adjunct faculty in computer applications, office technology, business, supervision, human relations, sales, leadership, accounting, worker training and management.  He served in the U.S. Navy as a Fireman from 1946 to 1948. Rhico was a beloved and devoted husband, father and grandfather.  He was involved in education, facilitating and lifelong learning.  He was a natural teacher who loved to share and encourage learning and comprehension.  He was a member of Jaycees, International Toastmasters, Association for Quality & Participation, Retsil Veterans Home workplace re-entry education program, and Tahuya Fire Department as a volunteer Firefighter and EMT.  He was also a member of the Port Orchard Church of Christ. Surviving are wife Connie; daughters Freilah (Wayne) Allen-Sonn of Renton, Hilloah (John) Stafford of Olalla, Roberta (Steve) McCaffree of Fall City; Son Robert (Luz Maria) Allen of Gig Harbor; brother Rhio (Pat) Cleigh of Cedar Falls, IA; Step-son Jeff (Heather) Fields of Belfair; Step-daughter Amanda (Shawn) O'Dell of Port Orchard; grandchildren John & Michael Harmon, Ernie, Dan & Tom Fowler, Scott McCaffree, Ashley, Autumn & Levi Allen, Alexis & Haley O'Dell, Morgan Fields and Kasiah Emsley-Schumann & Austin Peters; great-grandchildren Derek & Megan Harmon, & Daivus Allen.  He was preceded in death by daughter Rhio Heigh Allen, granddaughter Pamela Lough, brother Philo Allen, and step-son Jeremy Fields. Visitation from 5-8 pm on Friday, April 2nd at Rill's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard.  Memorial Service at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 3, 2010 at Port Orchard Church of Christ, 2585 Carr Lane SE in Port Orchard with Graveside Service following at 3:00 pm at Haven of Rest Cemetery in Gig Harbor.
