Thelma Jean Suzanne Day

March 3, 1973 — February 8, 2023

Thelma Jean Suzanne Day was born on March 3, 1973 in Houston, Texas to Jose and Irma Benavidez. Thelma spent her youth years growing up in Port Orchard, Washington attending East Port Orchard Elementary, Marcus Whitman Junior High and South Kitsap High School. She completed a business administration course at Clover Park Technical College and also attended Everglades College, earning her associates degree. Thelma worked as an administrative assistant, business owner and a house wife.

Thelma loved taking vacations to sunny spots including Mexico, Hawaii and San Diego. If she was warm, everyone else was hot! Thelma also created many great memories coaching and playing softball. She liked to travel all over the PNW for tournaments and she hosted and directed many of the local tournaments for girls fast pitch.

Thelma enjoyed spending time on the local trails as well as traveling to the sand dunes, riding quads and camping with friends. She also enjoyed board games like Scrabble. She really liked to go play Bingo when she could talk someone into going with her. Thelma loved social activities with family and friends. She also appreciated some craftier hobbies, like scrap booking, cooking and she recently started painting, which she really enjoyed.

Thelma mostly liked to spend her time outdoors in the sun. Whether this be on the ball field or at the lake, anywhere was fine as long as it was sunny and warm. She even liked to take long drives searching for the sun. Although she was very outdoorsy, Thelma also enjoyed her beauty products. She liked to keep her nails painted, liked her jewelry, and liked to do different styles and colors with her hair.

Thelma was preceded in death by her grandparents, her mother Irma, her brother Dan, and daughter Stephania. She is survived by her husband Joel, her son Joel, brother Henry, sisters Hope and Dory, three grandchildren, many other extended family members, three dogs Maks, Mella and Cooper and Pita the cat.
Thelma will be greatly missed.
