Theron R. Chamberlain, loving husband of the late Lillian Florence(nee Brockway) Chamberlain passed away peacefully on January 15th 2015.
He is survived by his son Bruce (Debbie) Chamberlain of Port Orchard WA and daughters Mary Ellen (Paul) Jankowski of Lake Zurich IL, Barbara (Daniel) Cameron of Johnstown NY an Christine (Dale) Johnson of Wenatchee WA . He was the proud grandfather of 9 grandchildren: John, Janna, Jeanette, Matthew, Todd, Christina ,James, Colin and Ryan and ten great-grandchildren.
Theron was born and raised in Watertown, NY. Upon graduation from high school he served in the Royal Canadian Air Force and the US Air Force during World War II.
After leaving the service he attended and graduated from Clarkson college in Potsdam, NY with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was employed by Bendix Corporation in Utica, NY until the mid 70's. During this time he obtained his Professional License in Mechanical Engineering
After visiting his son in Washington, he decided that this provided the perfect environment for him to pursue his passion during his retirement and sought employment there. He worked for Boeing Corp. until his retirement in the 1980's.
Theron loved to fish, both fresh water and salt water. He had many 'fishing buddies' and never lacked someone to take fishing trips with. They would take their annual fly-ins to Canada. He tied his own flies and in his later years even made his own bamboo rods.
Theron was also an accomplished woodworker. He always had a project in the works. Each one of his children and grandchildren have something in their homes that he made, such as a jewelry box, cutting board, bowl, table, curio. If you needed something custom made you could always count on him to help you out.
The one sport that he truly enjoyed was hockey. He played hockey in college and was an avid follower of the NHL .
A memorial service will be held on March 14, 2015 at St Gabriel Church, Port Orchard, WA.
