Thomas Joseph Lyden

July 22, 1951 — January 28, 2016

Thomas Joseph Lyden, Jr. was born on July 22, 1951 at Youngstown, OH. His parents are Tom and Ellanor. He went by the name Tom. He had an older sister named Alene. Tom attended Boardman High School in Ohio. As a boy, he enjoyed the outdoors. When he was 17 he joined the US Navy ad was stationed on the USS Sphinx (ARL-24) during Vietnam.
While stationed in Bremerton, WA, he met and married the mother of his two children. Bryan Thomas Lyden and Andria Lyden. As a young family, they did a lot of moving around to places like Oklahoma prior to settling in Kitsap County area.
He worked in Bremerton at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Shop 26 as a Welder for 35 years, retiring in 2006. He really enjoyed the outdoors, watching Seahawk's Football at the Hi-Joy Lanes in the lounge, hunting for deer, and fishing especially with his friends. He truly enjoyed spending time in his fairly large vegetable garden, and the opportunity to share the fruit of his labors with friends and family. He also liked canning his vegetables as much as possible.
He was always a hard worker, rising early even after retirement. He could be found many days at the Hi-Joy having breakfast, if it wasn't game time.
Tom is survived by a son, Brian (Erika) Lyden of Port Orchard, daughter Andria Lyden of Seattle, his mother Ellanor Lyden of Boardman, Ohio and a nephew Raymond McClaine of Boardman, Ohio.
Thomas died on January 28, 2016 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Gig Harbor. Celebration of Life with military honors will be held at Rill's LIfe Tribute Center in Port Orchard, on Friday, February 12, 2016 at 1:00 pm.
