Thomas (Rocky) Alonzo was born in Rockford Illinois on April 29, 1942, to Treno and Virginia Alonzo. He withdrew from school to join the Military, where he served our country for 22 ½ years. He retired from the Navy in 1982 in a ceremony on the USS Missouri.
It was early in his military career when he met his future wife, Francisca Mayo. They were married on April 3, 1965. They lived in various places around the country until finally landing in Washington State, where they have remained to this day. They just celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary in April.
He was the proud father to four boys, Tom, Anthony, Steve, and Rory. He was even more proud of all his grandchildren, and you couldn’t go anywhere without hearing stories about all of them. Most nights and weekends, he could be found at one of their baseball, basketball, or soccer games.
He was a very dedicated volunteer. He was the Scoutmaster for Troop 1523 in Port Orchard through the late 1970’s and the early 1980’s. He was the President of South Kitsap Western Little League in the early 1980’s. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his parents Treno and Virginia Alonzo, and great grandchildren Grayson and Ellery Goodwin.
He is survived by many family and friends, amongst which are his brothers Treno, Don and his wife Terry, Alan and his wife Sharon, his sister Theresa, his wife Fran, his sons Tom and his wife Jennifer, Anthony and his wife Charlyn, Steve and his wife Uyen, Rory and Alyssa, grandchildren Jaylyn and husband Jeff, Jaclyn and husband Nick, Michael, Vanessa and husband Kenny, Erin and Spencer, Bryce, Rory, Elizabeth and Alex, great grandchildren Blake and Brooke, along with all of his nieces and nephews.
