Thomas Mason Swaggart, 86, a resident of Port Orchard, died March 30, 2010 at Kitsap County Hospice Care Center in Bremerton. He was born to Fred and Ruby (Mason) Swaggart on April 11, 1923. He graduated from Caldwell High School in Kansas in 1941, later graduating from Hayward Barber College in CA and married Inge Mary Thaler on August 17, 1946 in Oakland, CA. She preceded him in death in 2009. He served with the US Navy during WWII as a Boatswain's Mate, 2nd Class from December 16, 1942 to February 19, 1946 and was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Victory Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Star. He owned and operated Thomas' Beauty Salon in San Carlos, CA. Tom loved playing host at any party or family get together. He enjoyed gardening anything edible and all kinds of flowers, especially roses. He was also 'hooked' on barbed wire collecting. He is survived by daughters Myrna Clark of Bremerton, Lynda Leone (Rob) of Port Orchard and Dydra Cleven (Doug) of Ketchum, ID; brother Fred Swaggart (Barbara) of TX; sister Mary Clinginpeel of OR; 5 grandchildren Mellissa (Ben), Morgan, Amber, Allie and Bailey; and 3 great-grandchildren Joshua, Mackenzie and Collin. He was preceded in death by sisters Gearlee "Sis" and Patricia Swaggart. Visitation will be Thursday, April 8, 2010 from 2 to 5 PM followed by a celebration of life service at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard. There will be an additional service at Half Moon Bay in California in August, date and time to be announced.
