Troy N. Carter, 95, a resident of Port Orchard, died in Bremerton on April 7, 2012. He was born in Sunnyside, WA on December 5, 1916 to Frank and Blanche (Roberts) Carter. He attended a one room school in Mabton, WA. He married Mina F. (Van Meter) Carter on August 31, 1940 in Marysville, WA and she preceded him in death in 2001. He worked at PSNS as a Fire Fighter, driving a fire truck for the first 15 years and was Captain of Fire Station #2 for 15 year, retiring in 1971. He enjoyed riding horses his entire life and after retirement he raised beef cattle. He and his wife Mina enjoyed gold panning in WA, ID, AK and BC, Can. He is survived by daughter, Sandy Schmitz (Ted); four grandchildren Tami Schmitz, Jackie Lilly (Steffen), Gary Schmitz (Michelle) and Jodi Milo (Tony); ten great-grandchildren Ted, Jared, Zakary, Carli, Kelsi, Boyd, Justin, Joshua, Grant and Marina and one great-great-grandchild Cadence. He was preceded in death by his brother Glenn. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Hospice of Kitsap County, P. O. Box 3416, Silverdale, WA 98383. Private family services will be held at a later date.
