Valerie Kimette Colson

March 18, 1955 — February 17, 2024

"It broke my heart to love you, but you didn’t go alone. Part of me went with you the day God called you home."

Our mother Valerie Kimette Colson (Black) age 68 of Port Orchard Washington passed away on February 17th, 2024 from a hard fought battle with stage 4 lung cancer. She passed away peacefully with her daughter Connie and sister Tina at her bedside. Valerie was the eldest of ten siblings and a mother to most. She cared deeply for everyone in the family, never passing judgment and always supporting those she loved. She raised four children and two grandchildren. Her greatest life accomplishment, if you would ask her, is watching her thirteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren being born and raised. She boasted proudly about each of their achievements.

Valerie spent the majority of her life as a restaurant manager. Her proudest professional accomplishment was owning and operating Kimi’s Kitchen in Joseph, Oregon. Valerie loved being near the water whether it be camping with family, beach trips with her best friend Leslie Emery, or sitting on the deck at her sister’s with loved ones simply enjoying the view.

Valerie is survived by her companion Bob Colson, her father James Black, Mother Jeanine Hunt, Father Robert Hunt, her siblings Tina Robinson, Kelly Hunt, Amy Purvis, Cindi Hunt, Lori Lampkins, Robin Williams, her four children Connie Northrup, Karl Northrup Jr., Gini Moore, Gabi Moore, her thirteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins. Valerie is predeceased by her mother Joan Constance Spohn, Brothers Steven Hunt and Harry Edgmon.
