Verna Fagerud

Olalla old timer dies at 102 from natural causes.  Verna Fagerud was born August 27, 1907 in Grand Forks, ND and passed away at Clare Bridge Memory Care in Everett, WA June 8, 2010.  She was the daughter of Ole and Anna Rongen.  Verna came to Olalla in 1913 attending Olalla grade school and graduating from SKHS in 1926.   Verna married Andrew Fagerud in 1927.  Together they owned and operated Sunset Grocery in Purdy until 1936 when they purchased the Olalla Trading Co. and owned the store until 1956 when they moved to a smaller building - Olalla Foods. Andy preceded Verna in death in 1973.  She is survived by daughter Shirley McElroy of Bothell, WA; son Neal Fagerud of Cave Creek, AZ; granddaughter Tamara Sprayberry of Bothell; grandson Tadd Fagerud of Phoenix, AZ; great-grandchildren Hailey & Ryan Sprayberry of Bothell.  Verna will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Celebration of Life on Wednesday, June 16th at 1:00 pm at Rill's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard, with burial following at Fraola Cemetery at 3:00 pm.  Remembrances may be made to Providence Hospice of Snohomish County, 2731 Wetmore Ave, Ste 500, Everett, WA 98201-9931.
