Vernon W. Powelson, 48, of Port Orchard passed away on July 27, 2000 in Seattle,Washington. He was born April 6, 1952 in Seattle to Corden & Eilene (Larson) Powelson. He graduated from Broadway High School in Seattle in 1970. He attended South Seattle Community and Green River Community Colleges. Vernon married Julie King on September 15, 1973 in Seattle, Washington. Mr. Powelson worked at K2 Ski Corp for 6 years and for GM Nameplate in Seattle for 16 years as a Quality Assurance Manager. He was an avid boater and mountaineer. He was a member of the Port Orchard Yacht Club, The American Society for Quality & First Lutheran Church of Port Orchard.Survivors include his wife Julie of 26 years, son Aaron of Port Orchard; parents Corden & Eilene Powelson of West Seattle; brother Rick Powelson & wife Karla and 2 sons Adam & Erik of Vashon Island. Other family members include Vern's father-in-law and mother-in-law Paul & Billie King of West Seattle; sister-in-law Jeannene Rodruck & husband Richard of West Seattle; aunt Nadine Thompson & husband Claude of West Seattle; cousins Ken Thompson & wife Jan & sons Matthew & Stephen; Ron Thompson & wife Cathy & children Kristin & Kyle; Teri Staszewski & husband Darryl; Dave Tostenson & wife Monique & daughter Gracie. Also aunt Myrtle Wray & cousins of West Virginia, and many loyal and caring friends.Memorial services will held Friday August 4, 2000 1:00 PM at First Lutheran Church in Port Orchard.
