Vernon Warmbo

August 22, 1916 — January 8, 2000

Vernon A. Warmbo, 83, died at his home in Port Orchard, Washington on January 8, 2000.  He was born August 22, 1916 in Henning, Minnesota to Axel W. & Ethel (Simonson) Warmbo.  Vernon was raised in Henning and Grand Forks, North Dakota until he moved to Port Orchard in 1941.  He married Jean J. Taylor on February 9, 1994 in Parker, Arizona.Mr. Warmbo worked for 24 years at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1971 as a Shipfitter.  Previous employment included a paper mill in Port Townsend, Washington, Naval Base in Adak, Alaska and Tacoma Boat Builders as a Welder.  He was also a former volunteer Firefighter with the Port Orchard Fire Department.Survivors include his wife; sons Vernon Warmbo of Federal Way, Washington, Donald R. Warmbo of Allyn, Washington and Larry R. Warmbo of Bremerton; stepson James E. Peterson of Port Orchard; daughters Cheryl L. Farner of Port Orchard and Donna J. Franklin of Olalla, Washington; stepdaughters Virginia L. Karst of Puyallup, Washington and Faith L. Creswell of Kent, Washington; brother Leland Warmbo of Minneapolis; sisters Rosemarie Lish and Edith Kasperson, both of Minneapolis, and Dolly Penn of Medford, Oregon; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 4 step great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia in 1993, and 4 Grandchildren.Funeral Service at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard on Monday, January 17, 2000 at 11:00am.  Visitation will also be on Monday from 9:00am to the service.  Memorial Donations may be made to the American Heart Association of Washington, 4414 Woodland Park Avenue North, Seattle, WA 98103.
