Vida (Dalthorp) Heckel passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 14, 2012. She was born on November 17, 1921 in Seattle, daughter of Charles and Eva Lawson. She graduated from Seattle’s Lincoln High School and continued her education at the University of Washington, majoring in mathematics. She worked at Boeing during WWII and married Norm Dalthorp in 1943. Following his passing, Vida married Theron Heckel and moved to Port Orchard, WA. She was very active in civic and community organizations including the Chamber of Commerce, Soroptomists, Children’s Hospital Guild Association, and Fathoms of Fun Festival. She was elected “Port Orchard Woman of The Year” in 1983. She also enjoyed golf, bridge, dancing & traveling.
Vida is survived by her brother Stanley Lawson; children Sherry (Bill) Bloomer, Cindy (Dan) Thomas, Debbie (Bill) Meyer, Pam (Larry) Watters, & Norman (Rodd Russell) Dalthorp; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
