Vincent Louis Spotts

Vincent Louis Spotts passed away January 18th 2018 at the age of 99.

Vince was born in Kennebec, a small town in South Dakota to Charles and Mary Ann Spotts on April 16, 1918.

The family left South Dakota and traveled through many states before settling in Richmond, California.

Vince went through the California school system graduating from high school in 1937.

In 1940 Vince went to work in the civil service system at Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo, CA. Vince worked there 9 years as a machinist, building new and repairing older submarines, and other naval vessels. The next 9 years he worked as fire control mechanic repairing guns, directions computers and associated equipment.

In 1958 Vince transferred to San Francisco Naval Shipyards as an ordinance tech. In 1961 Vince met his beloved wife Ernestine. They were married in 1962 in Mission San Rafael, and lived in San Rafael, CA several years.

In 1970 Vince transferred to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. He retired from civil service in 1974 after 33 years. Vince lived in his Port Orchard home for 47 years.

Vince enjoyed trailering, going to such places as San Diego, Palm Springs, Jasper, Alberta Canada, Hawaii, and Chicago. He also enjoyed hiking in the Olympics, digging clams, and picking oysters on the beaches.

Vince enjoyed traveling to places outside the U.S. such as Mexico, Canada, Germany, France, Austria, Spain, New Zealand, and Australia.

Vince is survived by his daughters Myrna Ann Romack of Burien, WA and Charlotte Marie Spotts of Port Orchard; Granddaughter Lenore Lynn of Federal Way and Grandson Conor Romack of New York.
