Virgil Hanson

Virgil Duane Hanson, 58, died at his home in Grapeview, Washington on February 26, 2001. He was born in York, North Dakota on July 31, 1942 to Roy & Anna (Strand) Hanson. Virgil graduated from Minot High School in Minot, North Dakota in 1960. He married Margaret Anderson on September 5, 1964 in Kenmore, North Dakota.Mr. Hanson owned a convenience store in Grapeview, Washington for 15 years. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1960 to 1963. Virgil was the self-appointed mayor of Grapeview.Surviving are his wife Margaret; son Erik Hanson of Bremerton, Washington; daughter Michele Hanson-Millsap of Puyallup, Washington; brother Kenneth Hanson of Dover, New Hampshire; sisters Adelyne Hanson-Nelson of Puyallup and LaVaughn Hanson-Knutsen of Corona, California; and 2 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers Lawrance & Ray Hanson.Graveside inurnment will be Friday, March 2, 2001 at 11:00am at Sunset Lane Cemetery in Port Orchard. A Memorial Service is Friday, March 2, 2001 at 1:00pm at Rill Chapel in Port Orchard.
