Virgle Augton Janes, Sr. died of heart failure July 14, 2003 at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Bremerton, Washington. He was 78.He was born to Massom "Mack" and Alice (McGee) Janes July 19, 1924 in Mountain View, Oklahoma.He attended high school at Mountain View School in Mountain View, Oklahoma.Virgle married Veva (Hopkins) Janes August 31, 1943 in Hobart, Oklahoma.He worked as an outside machinist (Shop 38) at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Keyport Naval Torpedo Station for 23 years - retiring in 1984.He was owner and operator of Janes Texaco (across from Port Orchard National Guard Armory) for 7 years.Virgle enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, harvesting pumpkins - just to ride the tractor; and, was an avid Mariner's fan.He is survived by his wife, Veva (Hopkins) Janes of the Manchester, Washington family home; sons - V. Auston Janes, Jr. (& wife, Audrey) of Puyallup, Washington, Mack Janes of Manchester, Washington; daughters - LaDesa Hosford (& husband, Ernest) of Port Orchard, Washington, Ronda Knapp (& husband, Larry) of Vancouver, Washington; brother - Albert Janes (& wife, Pauline) of Edmond, Oklahoma; sister - Jettie Jenkins of Lawton, Oklahoma; 9 grandchildren: Boddy & Don White, Jason Slater, Cozette Lewis, Mike Knapp, April Smith, Amber Atencio, Chelsey & Courtney Janes; and, by 16 great-grandchildren.A visitation will be held at Rill Chapel's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard, Washington from 9:00 a.m. to noon on Thursday July 17, 2003.A funeral service will be held at Rill Chapel's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard, Washington at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday July 17, 2003.Interment will follow immediately at Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard, Washington.Memorial Donations may be made to:American Cancer SocietyKitsap UnitP.O.
