Wallace L. "Wally" Wood, 70 of Port Orchard, Washington died on April 11, 2005 at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Bremerton, Washington surrounded by his family. He was born in Sidney, Nebraska on March 17, 1935 to Earl R. & Vera E.(Hand)Wood. He graduated from Sidney High School in 1953 and from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, Nebraska in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. Wally married Kathleen A. Keig in Grand Island, Nebraska on June 11, 1960. Wally worked as a Teacher for 34 years in Port Orchard, retiring in 1995. He taught Math, Wood Shop, and Physical Education - coaching football, wrestling, baseball, and track. He also coached Little League. Wally enjoyed woodworking, made furniture, and built four homes for family members. He liked wine & beer making, golfing, traveling, watching sports, and was an avid reader. Surviving are his wife Kathy of the family home; sons Douglas (Kim) Wood of Olalla, Washington, David (Ann Marie) Wood of San Luis Obispo, California, Gary Wood of Sunnyslope, Washington, Kent Wood of Port Orchard, and Jeffrey (Linda) Wood of Port Orchard; brother Maurice R. (Rose) Wood of Omaha, Nebraska, James (Maxine) Wood of Iowa; sister Mary Jane Shoop of Tacoma, Washington; and 5 grandchildren. Visitation will be at Rill's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard on Friday, April 15, 2005 from 9:00am to 5:00pm. Funeral service will be Saturday, April 16, 2005 at Rill's Life Tribute Center.
