Walter Daniel Allison, 89, died at his home in Belfair on April 11, 2014. He was born in Belfair on September 1, 1924 to Walter Daniel & Sophia (Driscoll) Allison, Sr. Walter married Eleanor Rosenou on October 12, 1968. Previous wives were Betty Jean Kuntz and Donna Marie Olson.
Walter worked as a Foreman Marine Machinist in Shop 38 at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1985. He was very active at Belfair Community Baptist Church as a Deacon, search committee for new Pastors, and he did the readerboard every week for years. Walter loved the Lord, Jesus Christ, his wife Eleanor, fishing, hunting, clamming, and horses.
Walter had integrity and was a loving, kind, gentle, strong, and proud man who could be surly with his boys when they were not doing the right thing in his opinion. Family memories abound – Erica remembers when she came over as a little girl, he would talk grandma into taking them camping instead of chores around the house. Ted says going hunting up at Roslyn at their camp. Terry recalls clamming with him and Eleanor when they were much younger, and he was always surprised I would wear shorts and a T-shirt and it was cold out there. Jim & Terry remember traveling with them to Canada and Yellowstone. And Marty bringing Rene’ to Thanksgiving dinner showing off her engagement and getting married in December 1997.
Surviving are wife Eleanor; sons Jim (Terry), Marty (Rene’), Brian Allison and Dale Schumard; daughters Norma Gove, Nancy Testerman, Nettie Trevino, Sue Reynolds, Charla Simmons, Sherrie Whybark and Shannon Dimmons; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral Service 1:00 pm at Belfair Baptist Community Church on April 17, 2014. Burial will follow at Twin Firs Cemetery.
