Walter Orra Smith

May 16, 1930 — October 20, 2017

Walt, son of Leonard and Myrtle (Venning) Smith was raised in Bremerton. He attended local schools, graduating with the class of 1948 at Bremerton High, and served two years in the Navy. After attending Olympic College and the University of Washington, he was employed by the State as Farm Forester for the Dept. of Natural Resources. He later became Superintendent at Mission Creek Youth Camp and retired in 1986. He was married to the love of his life, Beverly, for 59 years. Together they enjoyed traveling, golfing and spending winter months in Nevada. Walt held dear his precious family; wife Beverly, daughters Sandie and Lisa, and son David, grandchildren Kariann, Tiffaney, Amanda, Ashley, Austin, Tyler, Alexie and great grandchildren Bryanna, Gibson, Jesse, Chloe and Vivienne. Walt passed away surrounded by his family, who loved him deeply. No public services, per his wishes. Anyone wishing to honor Walt's memory, please plant a tree.
