Wanda Jeanette Schubert was born on July 10, 1926, in Bad Hersfeld, Germany. She married Clarence Vern Gregerson on January 9, 1950. Wanda arrived in New York on the ship General Maurice Rose on June 1st, 1950. In 1957 the two bought property and built a house, settling in Port Orchard, WA creating a lasting foundation for their life and legacy. Wanda became a United States citizen on February 15, 1960. The two shared 60 wonderful years together. Clarence preceded her in death on November 19, 2010.
Wanda was a survivor, a woman of faith, and someone who brought joy to others with her laughter. She cared deeply for her loved ones. Wanda often shared remarkable stories of her life in Germany during the war, offering a glimpse into history through her experiences.
Clarence and Wanda have three children—David Gregerson, Gloria Morgan, and Dean Gregerson—and were blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Wanda had a passion for gardening and cooking. Her love of learning inspired her to master many skills independently. She found joy in singing to her family and friends. As a devoted foster mother, Wanda provided love and care to many children throughout her life.
Wanda held a variety of roles, including factory worker in Germany, transcriptionist, receptionist, waitress, and even entrepreneur, starting her own business. She was surrounded by many friends whom she cherished deeply.
Clarence and Wanda shared a love of travel, especially to Germany, Hong Kong and Victoria.
Wanda’s strength, kindness, and unwavering spirit leave behind a legacy of love and inspiration for all who knew her.
