Wanda Sue Wilson

June 1, 1936 — December 12, 2013

Wanda Sue (Davis) Wilson
6/1/36 – 12/12/13
Wanda, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, left this Earth in the early morning of December 12, 2013, to go home to Heaven to be with our Lord. Wanda, 77, was born June 1, 1936, in Umpire, Arkansas to parents Kelsey Charles and Gladys Clara (Brock) Davis. The family moved to Wenatchee, Washington in 1951 where Wanda attended high school. Wanda worked for over 30 years at Pacific NW Bell and GTE as a long distance telephone operator. It was while working as a telephone operator that Wanda met and fell in love with William “Bill” Ray Wilson of West Plains, Missouri who was stationed at Larson Air Force Base in Moses Lake, Washington and also worked in communications. They were married March 1, 1957, in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. Their son, David Leon, was born in Manhattan, Kansas, and their daughter, Gwendolyn Sue, was born in Wenatchee where the family had settled. Wanda’s passions included gardening, reading, and running a shipshape home. Upon retiring from the telephone company, Wanda enjoyed spending more time in her gorgeous gardens and volunteering at the Wenatchee First Assembly of God church. She was skilled in financial matters and enjoyed doing her own taxes and helping others with theirs. Wanda lived for the past few years in Port Orchard, Washington near daughter Gwendolyn.
Wanda is survived by son David of Walnut Creek , CA; daughter Gwendolyn of Port Orchard, WA; daughter-in-law Dayna of Walnut Creek, CA; sister Shirley of East Wenatchee, WA; brother Luther of Cashmere, WA; grandson Tyler of Bellingham, WA; and granddaughters Taylor and Brooke of Walnut Creek, CA. She was preceded in death by husband Bill and brother Roger.
A memorial service in celebration of Wanda’s life will be held in Wenatchee during the Spring. Online memorial at www.rill.com .
