Mr. Wayne E. Stewart, Age: 81, resident of Bremerton, Washington, died on November 2, 2001 at Northwoods Lodge in Silverdale, Washington.Wayne had been born on February 4, 1920, in Spokane, Washington, to Walter and Sarah(Lape) Stewart. Wayne graduated from West Seattle High School in West Seattle in 1938. He then attended Olympic College in Bremerton.On June 5, 1942, Wayne married Evelyn ''Betty'' Benson in West Seattle.Wayne served in the United States Navy from 1944 until 1946 as a Radio Technician. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He then went to work as an Engineer for Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton. He worked there for thirty two years, retiring in 1972.Wayne was a member of Gideons International, Hard Hats for Christ, and attended Navy Yard City Bible Church in Bremerton.He is survived by his wife, ''Betty'', of the family home; three sons, David of Bremerton; Ed of West Seattle; Michael of Sandia Park, New Mexico; two daughters, Judy Kemp of Sao Paulo, Brazil; Naomi Haynes of Salem, Oregon; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.No visitation is scheduled. A family only interment will take place prior to the memorial service at Bethel Cemetery in Port Orchard. The memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, 11-06-2001, at Navy Yard City Bible Church.All arrangements are under direction of Rill Chapel, Pendleton-Gilchrist Funeral Home and Crematory.
