Werner Knoch

Werner (Warren) Hans Knoch, 75, of port Orchard died Sept. 18, 2007 at his home. He was born to Hans and Eve (Paetow) Knoch in Concord, CA on Oct. 4, 1931. He was a graduate of Mt. Diablo High School in Concord and attended Diablo Valley College. He served in the Navy receiving the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Medal and China Service, Japanese Occupation Medal and National Defense Service Medal. Mr. Knoch worked as a painter out of the Martinez, CA union hall #741, employed as a painter at the Mare Island Naval Yard in Vallejo, CA, a painter and custodial supervisor for the Mt. Diablo Unified School District in Concord, CA before retiring in 1994. While employed by the school district he was very active in the California School Employees Association. He enjoyed square dancing, playing bocce ball and traveling. He is survived by his wife, Barbara of 33 years; his daughters Lenora Robertson (Michael), Francine van Leemput (Frank), and Kerry Knoch; his stepson Denis Marshall; stepdaughters Cynthia Lampe (Michael), Sandra Joehnk (Daniel); one granddaughter; seven step-grandsons; one step great-granddaughter and one step great-grandson; nephew Wayne Greig; a sister and a niece. Private family memorial will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Group Health Hospice, Dept. 4194, PO Box 34936, Seattle, WA 98124-9924.
