Wilhelmina Emelia Smith

April 23, 1918 — March 5, 2015

Wilhelmina "Hilma" Emelia (Buchmann) Smith; passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord, on March 5, 2015 at St. Anthony Hospital in Gig Harbor, Washington

Hilma was born on April 23,1918 in Bluegrass North Dakota, to William and
Georgina Buchmann, where she spent her childhood with her sister and four brothers, before moving to Salem, Oregon. She graduated from North Salem High School in 1936, where she had mentored other students in the German language. Also in 1936, Hilma married Walter A. Lamphere in 1936 and had seven children. Hilma was preceded in death by her first husband in 1984, and Son, Thomas (Shirley) LakeBay, WA, on July 12, 2014.

She was proud of her German heritage and was an English Literature enthusiast. She was a lifetime member of Bethany Lutheran church in Port Orchard, WA., and played the organ for Services. Other hobbies were gardening; and playing the piano, was a volunteer at Ridgemont Nursing home, and part time at St. Vincent DePaul. She was very proud of our Servicemen and women all over the world.

On August 29, 1993, Hilma married Walter E. Smith, and enjoyed four fun filled years of fishing, family, and camping before his passing in 1997.

She is survived by her children; Walter Lamphere Jr., Salamanca, Mexico,
Dennis Lamphere (Linda), Moyie Springs, Idaho, Janis Shipman (Robert), Port Orchard, WA, Terry Lamphere (Nori) Onalaska, WA, William Lamphere, (Patricia), Beverly, WA, and Richard Lamphere (Ana) Port Orchard, WA., Grandchildren and Great grandchildren

A private family gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers,
