William Chynoweth

William John Chynoweth, 70 of Manchester, WA died at the Hospice Care Center in Bremerton on September 19, 2010. He was born September 14, 1940 in Ishpeming, MI to William T. & Jane (Pascoe) Chynoweth. He graduated from Thomas Downey HS in 1958 in Modesto, CA and attended the University of CA at Berkley. He married Jean Davis on December 30, 1974 in Port Orchard.   William was a graduate apprentice and worked as a Machinist at PSNS & was a engineering technician at the Naval Sea Systems Command PERA (CV), retiring in 1996. He served 6 years in the U.S. Army which included a tour in Vietnam.   William was a member of St. Bede's Episcopal Church in Port Orchard where he served a lay reader, member of the bishop's committee and the building committee for the new Parish Hall.  He also served as a volunteer for Hospice.  His hobbies included woodworking, photography, boating, and fishing. He especially enjoyed a day of hunting with his two sons and the Labrador Retriever they each owned.   Surviving are wife Jean, daughters Nanci (Mark) Clawson of WVA & Jennifer (Travis) Nation of Port Orchard; sons Joseph Chynoweth of Seabeck, WA & Steven (Trisha) Caley of Honolulu, HI; nine grandchildren; mother Jane (Pascoe) Chynoweth & sister Peg (Dan) Kiser, both of Modesto, CA and his ex-wife Sharon Peterson of Bremerton. He was preceded by his father in 2000.   Memorial service at St. Bede's Episcopal Church in Port Orchard at 2:00 pm on October 9, 2010 with a simultaneous service at Christ the King Episcopal Church in Riverbank, CA. Private inurnment at Sunset Lane Memorial Park in Port Orchard. Memorial donations to Hospice of Kitsap County, PO Box 3416, Silverdale, WA 98383 or St. Bede's Episcopal Church, PO Box 845, Port Orchard, WA 98366 (Building Fund). Online memorial at www.rill.com
