Our father, husband, brother and grandfather William B. Covington (Bill) was born in Goldsby, Oklahoma on January 07, 1937 and passed away in Poulsbo on Nov. 7, 2017. He retired from the Navy, as a Chief Warrant Officer and served during Vietnam and was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal. Following his military service, he was a carpenter and handyman.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Sharon Covington; siblings, Betty Dreessen, Martha Dunn and Darrell Covington, children; Orin (Faye) Covington, Alicia (Dave) Paris and John Covington; Stepchildren; John (Colleen) Tyler, Teresa Tyler, Jodi (Tom) Leary, David (Jennifer) Kramer; seven granddaughters; eleven grandsons; and several great-grandchildren.
Bill grew up in Oklahoma, lived in California and finally settled in Poulsbo, WA. He led a full life serving in the US Navy, participating in seven different phases of the Vietnam conflict. He loved spending time with his extensive family. He enjoyed dancing, fishing, farming, and traveling.
He is preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Ethel Covington; siblings; Viola, Harold, and John Covington.
For any that wish to say a final farewell, there will be a memorial service Friday, November 17, 2017 with viewing at 12:30 and service 1:30 p.m. at Rill Chapel, 1151 Mitchell Ave, Port Orchard, WA 98366. There will be a reception following the service at the Port Orchard Eagles 4001 Jackson Ave SE, Port Orchard, WA 98366. His final resting will be with his family in Oklahoma.
