William King

William King, 78 of Port Orchard, passed away on November 24, 2008.  He was born in Kansas City, Kansas on May 22, 1930.  He spent his early years in Nebraska before moving to Washington in 1942.  Bill graduated from South Kitsap High School in 1947 and then became an apprentice at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.  He served in the U.S. Army for 2 years before returning to PSNS as a Machinist, retiring in 1985 after 36 years.  Bill married his life partner in 1955.  Together they raised five children.  Bill will be remembered for his dedication to his family.  He enjoyed fishing, traveling, playing poker and watching his grandsons play sports.  Bill was a talented mechanic known for his ability to fix almost anything.  His easygoing nature made him fun to be around and his great sense of humor will be missed by all. Surviving are his loving wife Dolores of 53 years; sons David (Judy) of Everett, Washington, Jim (Julie) of Toledo, Washington, and Jerry of Port Orchard; daughters Debbie (Edmund) of Norway and Kathy (Kirk) of Fairbanks, Alaska;  7 grandchildren; and brother Duane of Seattle.  Bill was preceeded in death by sister Pat Griffith. Celebration of Life at 1:30 pm on November 29, 2008 at Rill's Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard.  Memorial donations may be made in Bill's name to Hospice Care Center of Kitsap County - send in care of Hospice of Kitsap County, 3100 Bucklin Blvd, Suite 201, Silverdale, WA 98383.
