William Michael Schroer

October 14, 1942 — March 21, 2025

Poulsbo

William Michael Schroer died March 21, 2025, at his home in Poulsbo, WA. He was 82. Mike was born October 14,1942 in Orange, CA. He was the first of four sons born to William Joseph Schroer and Louise Therese (Waltner) Schroer. Mike attended Lynwood Academy, Lynwood, CA, and graduated in 1960. He continued his education at La Sierra College in Arlington, CA. He graduated in 1965 with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Business Management.

In 1965, Mike entered the U.S. Army, and later served in the U.S. Army Reserve. Following his discharge, he returned to his California home, and while beginning his career in business, learned to fly. He bought his own plane, and enjoyed a life-long interest in all things “aviation”.

During this same period, he began his career in real estate and related fields, including property management, sales, mortgage lending and banking. He moved to Washington in 1979, and was self-employed before joining Washington Mutual. There, he distinguished himself with innumerable commendations and awards for outstanding service to his customers, and to WaMu. Throughout his working life, no matter where Mike worked, he was recognized as a valued employee and friend, to all who knew him.

Mike was an active contributor to our Fish Line Food Bank, the American Brittany Rescue, the Group Health Foundation, and the Seattle Symphony, where he was a subscriber and contributor for 17 years.

Following his retirement, he continued to enjoy his favorite pastimes - swimming, hiking, and of course, caring for his Brittanys. With family and friends, he’d hike the dogs locally, and throughout the Olympic National Forest, introducing us to his favorite trails: the Dungeness, the Quilcene, and Tubal Cain Trails. He gifted us memories we’ll never forget.

Mike is survived by his three brothers, their wonderful families, and his Brittany, Rusty. He’s also survived by his close friend Don, who will always be so deeply grateful for the privilege of knowing Mike, and the memories they shared.

He was a fine, fine fellow, and will be greatly missed.
