William Howard Milton Smith, at the age of 50 in Port Orchard, Washington died on Thursday, December 11, 2014. William was born on June 17, 1964 in Norwich, NY. William is the son of William Emerson Smith and Louise Mary Ellen Gerdes who preceded him in death. William is survived by his wife of 25 years; Heather Cole-Smith. They were married in Virginia Beach, VA in 1989. For Heather, he had her at “Hello”, they met while they were both in the Navy. William retired from the US Navy in 2003 after 21 years of dedicated service with the rank of E-6 (MM1). He’s survived by 6 kids; Mitzi, Charles (Jen), Travis, Jenifer (Jerron), Melinda and Kenneth. He had 14 grandchildren. William is also survived by his brothers John Emerson Smith (Tiffany) and Michael Ryan Smith.
William enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and tinkering with computers. He was an avid bowler and has over 13 bowling balls. He bowled in the Friday Night Live league with his team mates on “Almost” at HI-Joy bowling center in Port Orchard, for the past 11 years. He had bowled a 300 and his average is 228. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle with Heather.
During his years, in the Navy he was a Submariner and was stationed in Norfolk, VA, San Diego, CA and Bangor, WA. Both William and John were stationed together in Norfolk and they would often ride their motorcycles together.
William was loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations are can be made to mikeroweWORKS Foundation.
